  • How to edit your main wiki page:

To edit your main wiki page press on the pencil icon "A" on the top right corner of the page (shown above). Delete the information written in this section and add your own. Then press save. This will be your table of contents page that will link you to all of your other pages.

Below are directions for how to add features to your wiki text. Always choose the pencil first to edit and press save when completed. If you forget what each symbol does, hold your cursor over the symbol and it will explain its function.

  • How to change the size of your font:

To change the size of your font, click on "1", the paragraph symbol, drag and highlight the "header" size you want.


  • How to add bullets, number, or align your text:

To add bullets, number, or align your text, click on "2", the bullet symbol, drag and highlight.

  • How to add emphasis to your text:

To add emphasis to your text, click on "3", the A, drag and highlight.

  • How to insert images, audio, or Quicktime movies:

To insert images, audio, or Quicktime movies, click on "5", the music symbol. Click on "choose file" and select your image, audio, or movie from your desktop or folder. Click on "Choose" and then "Insert". You can choose where you want the image to be placed by selecting the picture in "alignment" (under "choose file").

  • How to attach a file:

To attach a file, click on "6", the paperclip. Click on "choose file" and select your attachment from your desktop or folder. Click on "Choose" and then "Attach".

  • How to insert a table:

To insert a table, click on "7", the table. Use the sample toolbar below to guide you. You may add rows or columns and delete them to make the table of your choice. To create sections that are shaded in, "headers", you can use the "Enable Header Row" button or to take them away, the "Disable Header Row" button.

  • WE ADVICE YOU NOT TO USE "8". This is for advanced coding of this wiki site. If you do, click on cancel.

  • Back to "4"...How to create new page, insert links, search within your wiki, unlink information or pages, or select link to an already created page:

-Create a new page: Create the title of your new page in your table of contents. Now highlight just this title. Click on "4", the hyperlink symbol or arrow, drag and highlight "New page". On your new page click the pencil to edit text.




-For the more advanced wiki user, you may use the "tag" button on the top left corner to label a specific page. This will allow you to search for the page(s) containing the "tagged" words/phrases. You can search after selecting "4".




-To link a word or phrase to another website, or URL, select the word or phrase. Now click on "4" and drag and highlight "Enter URL..." Paste your previously copied web address or URL here and press "link".




-To link a word or phrase to a previously made page within your wiki, select the word or phrase. Click "4" and drag and highlight to the name of your page.



  • To add comments to a page, click on the "+ Add a new comment" symbol on the bottom left hand corner. Write your text in the text box (no images or files) and click "save comment".

  • To view updates of your wiki (and also your students/users last pasted comments) click on: wiki5.png
This will allow you to better monitor you wiki.
TO MAKE YOUR WIKI ONE-OF-A-KIND:
  • Add colorful writing and images made on Microsoft Word and Appleworks:

To take a picture of your screen so you can add colorful writing and images made on Appleworks or Microsoft Word hold down the apple key, press shift, and click on the number "4". Your cursor will become a cross. Line this up with the top left corner of the image you want to take a picture of. Click, hold down, and drag your cursor to the bottom right hand corner of the image. When you let go it will automatically take a picture of your image and place it onto your desktop. It will number your pictures starting at 1. Now when you are importing images, using "5", click "choose file" and look for the picture you have taken from the desktop.
  • To add clipart to your Wiki:

To add clipart to your Wiki find the clipart you like from the internet or your computer. You can pull it straight onto your desktop or hold the cursor over your image and click on the control key. Now you can save the image to your desktop. Now when you want to add these images, using "5", click "choose file" and look for the picture you have taken from the desktop.
